What To Get a New Mom For Herself After Birth

Gift Guide For New Moms

Moms get all of the newborn essentials, and in the rush of preparing for baby, they themselves tend to get overlooked. As a first-time mom myself, I have noticed that it’s always baby this, and baby that. Everyone forgets that mom needs essentials too, to get through the first couple months of settling in this new journey.

So, what do you get the new mom who is sleep-deprived, wildly emotional, and struggling to find time just to shower or remember if she ate? How do you show her you care and want to support her?

In this gift guide, I will be sharing some ideas for gifts that new moms will truly appreciate and find useful.

1. Meals, Meals, Meals!

After worrying about the baby all night and day the last thing a new mom wants to be thinking about is what to cook let alone cooking. Either bringing homemade meals, buying gift cards to Doordash, Ubereats, or grocery delivering services such as Instacart. She will be so thankful to sit down after putting the little one down and having food ready.

2. Self-Care Day To Herself

Mamas love their babies but getting out of the house by themselves and feeling like a normal human being again is a game changer. Especially if you get to pamper yourself. Going to the grocery store and running errands doesn’t always count. Sometimes you need that extra reset. Getting her a day at the spa, paying to get her nails done, or watching the kids so she can go on that hiking day with the girls she has been wanting to do will help her feel refreshed.

3. Roomba Vaccum/Mop

Any new mom will be ecstatic not to try to squeeze in the time to clean the floors!

4. Coffee Machine

From personal experience, the best gift I received as a new mom was my Ninja coffee maker. It was a game changer and so necessary for the sleepless days. I looked forward to my coffee daily!

5. Airpods

Being nap-trapped is such a blessing and a curse. If you know, you know. Having those snuggles with your baby is so precious but you are left feeling unproductive or doom scrolling. Having headphones helps you to pass the time. Either listening to audiobooks, podcasts or music. They also come in handy during postpartum workouts, cleaning and your daily hot mom walks!

6. Journal

Adjusting to motherhood can be overwhelming, and new moms often have a lot of emotions and thoughts they want to express. A journal is a perfect gift for a new mom to write down her feelings, track her baby’s milestones, or just jot down memories she wants to cherish forever.

7. Mental Health App Subscription

New moms are often sleep-deprived and stressed, which can take a toll on their mental health. A subscription to a mental health app like Headspace or Calm can help new moms manage their stress and anxiety, and provide them with some much-needed relaxation time.

8. Cleaning Service

After several weeks with a newborn things tend to be so chaotic and it’s hard to not feel like you’re drowning in tasks. Gifting a cleaning service to come do a deep clean of the home is such a great refresh.

9. Gift Cards
  • Audible, Starbucks, Target, Grocery Store, DoorDash, GrubHub, Uber Eats
10. Apple Watch

For all the unread texts to answer during the nap trap, trying to get back into shape, and my personal favorite; being able to ping my phone when I can’t find it for the 10th time in a day. lol

11. Kindle

A Kindle and Kindle unlimited subscription is a must if the new mom your shopping for is a reader. A Kindle is much lighter and easier to hold/turn pages when nap-trapped.

12. Amazon Prime Subscription

As a new mom, there is nothing better than free next-day or same-day shipping!
